£100K Warm This Winter Fund - Apply now for grants of up to £2500
Good news – the Warm This Winter Fund is back and here to help groups and charities support vulnerable people on Teesside through the cold months ahead.
First launched in 2022, the fund has supported many groups to provide vital help over the years, and now has up to £100k available once again, with grants of up to £2,500 for groups offering ways to reach those who need it most to stay warm.
Sarah Albaladejo, grants manager at Tees Million – the grant giving service for the Tees Foundation – said: “We’ve seen some wonderful groups doing amazing things in our area over the years, helping our community every day with warm spaces, soup kitchens, slow cookers and other helpful measures to help people stay warm. We are keen to help as many as possible again through these cold months.”
Why the fund matters
The reality is that many people across Teesside are facing tough choices this winter. The national outlook predicts the average annual energy bill will remain 67% higher than in the winter of 2020/21, with prices set to rise again as of October 2025. Charities face the double burden of high operational costs for their buildings, while simultaneously needing to provide “warm spaces” and emergency fuel support for a deeply struggling population. 85 per cent of charities predict this winter will be as tough, or even tougher, than the last while groups on the ground are seeing demand increase.
Sarah added: “We know energy bills are still a major concern for people in our community, and as the weather turns colder that worry increases. With little support from the Government, we are hearing from groups and charities that it continues to be a very significant concern.”
Making a difference
Groups have used grants to set up warm spaces, provide hot meals, distribute slow cookers and deliver other practical help to vulnerable people affected by rises in energy bills.
The Tees Million provides £1 million of accessible funding for the community of Teesside every year. Thanks to the generosity of its donors – made up of local companies and individuals – more than £40m has been donated across the area in 37 years.

Who can apply
Tees Million’s ambition is to empower local communities to address disadvantage and exclusion. The Warm This Winter Fund is operated as a third-party grant, meaning individuals cannot apply directly. Applications must be submitted by a support organisation who has detailed knowledge of the need or beneficiary.
Although applicants do not have to be registered charities, all applicant groups must have an appropriate constitution or governing document, and demonstrate they comply with all relevant safeguarding requirements for the activity for which they are seeking funding.
