Sports Kit Challenge smashes £14,000 for local teams
Eleven local sports clubs and teams have helped turn community fundraising into more than £14,000 for kit and equipment through Tees Foundation’s Sports Kit Challenge.
The groups took part in the July challenge to raise money for the items their teams need, from strips and training equipment to practical kit that helps players take part and feel part of something.
Together, they raised an incredible £7,218.56.
With Tees Foundation match funding, that total has now doubled to £14,437.12.
The Sports Kit Challenge is part of Tees Challenge, which is about backing local effort and helping communities make things happen for the causes, clubs and groups they care about.
For the teams involved, that meant players, families, coaches, volunteers and supporters getting behind their clubs and raising money for something practical that will make a difference.
Sarah Albaladejo, Grants Manager at Tees Foundation, said:
“What a fantastic result. The teams involved have really got behind the Sports Kit Challenge and shown what can happen when people come together to support their club.
“They have put the work in, raised the money and brought their communities with them. Tees Foundation is delighted to match that effort and help make the final total go even further.
“Kit and equipment might sound simple, but for grassroots teams it can make a huge difference. It can help players feel included, give volunteers what they need to run sessions and support more people to enjoy sport.”
The money raised through the challenge will now be used by the clubs and teams for sports kit and equipment.
Tees Foundation will also continue to share photos, videos and updates from the groups as they put the funding to use.
Sarah added:
“A huge thank you to everyone who donated, fundraised, shared posts, organised activities or cheered their team on.
“This is exactly what Tees Challenge is about – local people backing something they care about and Tees Foundation helping that effort go further.
“Everyone involved should feel really proud.”
Well done to all 11 groups who took part.
