Snap, shoot and share to win a £500 Tees Million grant hero image

We want your photos and videos!

Follow our easy guide to getting a great photo or video of the work you’re doing, the lives you’re changing and the big smiles you’re creating.

Your stories help us to celebrate you, spread the word and inspire more groups to access Tees Million funding!

For every photo and video we use on our website, socials or newsletter, you get an entry into a monthly draw to win a £500 grant for your group or charity.

There’s no limit to how many times you can enter – the secret to success is taking a little bit of time to make them good and have fun doing it!

Use props to tell the story img

Use props to tell the story

Using props is an easy, brilliant way to tell a story in a picture or video; in these pictures, the bowling balls, garden, mug and bags of donated goods not only add interest and help to tell a story of the group or charity, they also help people in the picture to relax and smile, which helps you take a more captivating picture.

Get up high or get down low to capture faces! img

Get up high or get down low to capture faces!

If your shots are of people doing something – digging, dancing, playing, crafting etc – the chances are, they will be looking down so don't be afraid to crouch down and point your phone or camera up at faces.  Make them laugh and capture the moment in a photo or video!
Full-length pictures can work well too, especially if you want to show the setting around you. So get up higher (safely of course!) and have them looking up to fit more into the shot.
Don’t be afraid to ask people to move around or squash in a bit!

Video entries are now open

We are now accepting videos as well as photos for snap, shoot and share.

Why video?
Videos bring stories to life. They show emotion, action and vision in ways a single image cannot. Share a short clip so we can see your group or project in action.

Tips for your video

  • Keep it short – no longer than 30 seconds
  • Make sure the angle is clear so we can tell what’s happening
  • Choose portrait or landscape – whichever shows your project best
  • Think about sound – is narration or background noise helping your story
  • Simple editing is welcome but not essential

A note on entries
You can submit a mix of photos and videos. If you choose video make it the best video clip or clips that tell your story!

Top tips to remember!

  • Clean your lens
  • Choose good lighting – where possible use natural light
  • Use props to tell the story
  • Get up high or get down low to capture smiling faces
  • Avoid pictures or videos of the tops or backs of heads
  • Take a few shots from different angles.
  • Have fun!

Use the uploader below to share your pictures and videos, good luck!

Please note – important information

Only upload photos or videos you’ve taken yourself or have permission to use – it’s the responsibility of the person submitting the content to ensure they have obtained permission to publish any other people in the photo or video.
