Sports groups on Teesside smash the Cash4Kids challenge

Sports groups on Teesside smash the Cash4Kids challenge hero image

When it comes to the challenge of raising cash, the sports clubs of Teesside don’t dissapoint!

What a fantastic night at the Riverside Stadium for the Cash for Kids North East Sports Challenge. Our Chief Exec, Hugh and Grants Officer Sarah were joined by trustees of the Foundation and TFM’s Steve and Karen to celebrate brilliant local fundraising efforts from our community sports groups.

They blew us all away with their fundraising and together, with match funding from Tees Challenge, there was £141,000 going out in grants!

A huge well done to all our finalists and thank you to our hosts the incredible Steve and Karen from Steve & Karen’s Breakfast Show

The Sports Challenge, which takes place over a five-week period, has been the most successful to date raising more than £50,000 more than last year.  The initiative, created by Tees Foundation (formerly TVCF) and TFM’s Cash for kids, offers local grassroots groups the chance to raise thousands of pounds to subsidise membership, buy new equipment, improve facilities and provide new kit or training.

All of the money raised by each group is then match funded by the Tees Challenge.

Sarah Hodgson, Grants Manager at Tees Foundation said: “We absolutely love the inspiring effort that young people across Teesside put into the Sports Challenge; to say we are impressed at the results is an understatement.  Times are challenging and there is much uncertainty for clubs and groups – the hardworking people across our community have really outdone themselves this year.

“From all the team at the Foundation and the Tees Challenge, a massive well done and we hope the money makes a huge difference to you all!”
