£100K Warm This Winter Fund - Apply now for grants of up to £2500

Is your group or charity helping vulnerable people on Teeside affected by high energy prices and reduced Government support?

The Warm This Winter Fund  is now open and has up to £100k available to groups helping the most in need as the weather turns colder.

The fund was launched in 2022 to help the most vulnerable affected by rises in energy bills.  Changes to the Winter Fuel Allowance announced recently by the Government, will see millions of people affected across the UK, including many in Teesside.

Sarah Albaladejo, grants manager at Tees Million – the grant giving service for the Tees Foundation – said: “We know energy bills are still a concern for people in our community, and as the weather turns colder that worry increases.  We are looking to help groups who will provide support to the most vulnerable people during this challenging time.”

The Tees Million provides £1 million of accessible funding for the community of Teesside, every year. The fundamental aim is to get the money directly to those who are making a difference, wherever and whenever it is needed.

Thanks to the generosity of its donors, which are made up of local companies and individuals, more than £40m has been donated across the area in 36 years.

“There is much reduced support from the Government this year,” said Sarah “We are hearing from groups and charities that it continues to be a significant concern for many groups and the individuals they help.

“Over the years, we’ve seen some wonderful groups doing amazing things in the area, helping our community every day with warm spaces, soup kitchens, slow cookers and other helpful measures to help people stay warm.  We are keen to inspire more of that with this fund.”

Marske on a Mission

Tees Million’s ambition is to empower local communities to address disadvantage and exclusion – the Warm This Winter Fund is operated as a third-party grant, meaning individuals cannot apply directly. Applications must be submitted by a support organisation who has detailed knowledge of the need or beneficiary.

Although applicants do not have to be registered charities, all applicant groups must have an appropriate constitution or governing document, and demonstrate they comply with all relevant safeguarding requirements for the activity for which they are seeking funding.
